URC Delivers Offsite Programming Feature for Total Control

URC has introduced Offsite Programming, a new feature available to programmers of Total Control whole-house systems.

Now custom installers can access their customers’ MRX-10 Advanced Network Controller to program or reprogram, change cable channel lineups, reset Favorites or make any other adjustment—all without visiting the installation site. Access can be made remotely from the installer’s shop, home or anywhere else that they can connect to the internet.

“This means fewer house calls and happier customers. Offsite Programming saves time, gasoline and aggravation for Total Control installers and their customers alike,” said Cat Toomey, director of marketing at URC. “Enterprising installers will quickly realize that this new feature can be the basis for a new recurring revenue stream, as well.”

Implementation requires a one-time set-up and handshake with the URC MRX-10 associated with the system. Offsite Programming is securely password protected; initial access cannot be made to a homeowner’s system without their explicit approval.

Before connecting to URC’s Offsite Programming web portal, Total Control installation companies must declare and register an administrator within their company who will supervise which employees have access. URC hosts the portal on a secure server. Interested Total Control resellers should contact their sales representative to learn how to begin programming from offsite.
