Artcoustic has launched a new architectural in-ceiling loudspeaker platform, introducing two purpose-built models designed for immersive cinema and premium architectural audio installations. Sharing the same acoustic platform, the new Spitfire Cloud and SL Architect 4-2 MKII combine controlled directivity, high sensitivity, and an ultra-shallow installation depth to address the growing demand for high-performance in-ceiling loudspeakers across both residential and commercial projects.
While both products share identical engineering, each has been optimized for a distinct application.
Spitfire Cloud
The Spitfire Cloud has been developed specifically for immersive audio formats including Dolby Atmos, DTS, and Auro-3D. Unlike conventional coaxial ceiling loudspeakers, it employs a directional driver array comprising four 3-inch long-throw low-frequency drivers and dual Artcoustic ring-radiator high-frequency units mounted on an angled acoustic baffle.
The resulting 90- × 45-degree coverage pattern focuses acoustic energy toward the listening position, improving object localization, dialog intelligibility, and overall spatial precision while reducing unwanted ceiling reflections.
Delivering 98 dB sensitivity, 120 W power handling and peak output of up to 120 dB SPL, the Spitfire Cloud provides reference-level overhead performance from an installation depth of 83mm. The shallow profile also makes it particularly well suited to retrofit projects and low-void ceiling constructions where conventional Atmos loudspeakers cannot easily be accommodated.
SL Architect 4-2 MKII
Artcoustic is also introducing the SL Architect 4-2 MKII, aimed at high-end residential and commercial audio applications including living spaces, television systems, hospitality, retail, boardrooms, and distributed audio installations.
Sharing the same driver configuration and controlled dispersion characteristics, the SL Architect 4-2 MKII delivers consistent tonal balance, excellent speech intelligibility, and wide, even coverage while maintaining the discreet appearance expected of premium architectural cinema-grade loudspeakers.
Both models have been designed to integrate seamlessly within the wider Artcoustic ecosystem, ensuring consistent voicing across screen, surround, overhead and architectural channels.
The Spitfire Cloud is supplied in black, with grilles available in black, white, custom RAL/NCS colors, or digital print. The SL Architect 4-2 MKII is available in white, black, SL Satin, and custom RAL/NCS finishes, with grilles available in custom RAL/NCS colors or digital print.
