Monitor Audio Introduces Gold Series 6G Speakers

Monitor Audio has launched the new Gold Series 6G, which comprises six distinctive loudspeakers. Each model addresses a clearly defined user requirement, adds innovative acoustic technologies, and is crafted to celebrate and exude the distinctiveness and quality customers expect from the Gold Series.

Monitor Audio’s Gold Series has a long history of introducing innovative acoustic technologies, and this sixth generation is no different. Gold Series 6G boasts a totally new metal cone technology in the form of Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology (HDT). HDT draws on the RDT III cones utilized in the Hyphn and the flagship Platinum Series 3G, which consists of a Nomex honeycomb layer sandwiched between aluminum and carbon fiber skins. The HDT cone employs a new hexagonal pattern to disrupt symmetries in the cone breakup, creating a cone that shifts the frequency up by 10% compared to the RST II cones found on the Silver Series 7G.

The new cone also utilizes Monitor Audio’s proprietary C-CAM technology, which when compared to standard aluminum designs, produced a stronger, more fatigue-resistant cone. The result is that the new HDT, C-CAM cones are among the strongest, most piston-like cones Monitor Audio has ever engineered.

The new HDT, C-CAM cones have been utilized across the range, including a new 3-inch mid-frequency driver, a 6-inch bass-mid unit, and 6- and 8-inch bass drivers.

A revised version of Monitor Audio’s MPD III (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) transducer used in both Hyphn and the Platinum Series. This bespoke design delivers precise high-frequency sound with greater consistency, clarity, and accuracy.

The Gold Series 6G’s crossovers have been optimized for in-room performance; this is particularly important for the new On-Wall 6G model, where typical usage is closer to Custom Install than traditional Hi-Fi.

Cabinet design

All the Gold Series 6G cabinets are designed to form the most rigid structure possible, thus allowing the drivers to perform to their optimum capabilities. A top trim detail on the 100 and 500 models allows the MPD III high-frequency transducer to be placed further up the cabinet, optimizing the cabinet edge diffraction on these larger models. This helps deliver consistent and precise imaging across the entire frequency range.

For the first time ever, the new Gold Series 6G boats a man-made ebony veneer. It offers the quality and luster of real ebony, but with a significantly reduced carbon impact compared to traditional methods of real-wood veneered production. The high-gloss black and satin white finishes add a contemporary edge that ensures whatever the environment, Gold Series 6G will fit in seamlessly.

Gold 50 6G: The Gold 50 6G is a compact, high-fidelity bookshelf speaker.
