Shelly Debuts First Line of Z-Wave Smart Home Products

The use of Z-Wave technology allows for a longer and more stable broadcast range.

Shelly is expanding its portfolio of home automation devices with the brand’s first products with Z-Wave technology. Shelly Qubino Wave 1 and Shelly Qubino Wave 1PM are the first devices of the new Shelly Wave series to support Z-Wave technology. They were presented at a special live online event by the company’s co-CEO Dimitar Dimitrov.

Shelly ShellyWave product line

Shelly Qubino Wave 1 and Shelly Qubino Wave 1PM are the first devices of the new Shelly Wave series with Z-Wave technology. The basic functionalities are quite like Shelly Plus 1 and Shelly Plus 1PM, but there are a few specifics that distinguish them. The use of Z-Wave technology allows for a longer and more stable broadcast range, making the two new products ideal for homes or offices with multiple devices that broadcast at frequencies higher than those of Z-Wave. Z-Wave technology is also considered more secure as it is more difficult to intercept compared to Wi-Fi. For now, Z-Wave devices can be set via the application of a Z-Wave-supporting hub.

  • Shelly Qubino Wave 1—  This device allows the user to control a wide range of household appliances and office equipment such as lights, electrical outlets, security systems, heaters, radiators, switches, and much more. What’s new here is the use of Z-Wave protocol for control, replacing Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, which offers several advantages including significantly lower power consumption, extended range, higher level of data security, and privacy. Z-Wave utilizes a mesh network where each device node can communicate with others, creating a more stable and reliable network that performs better in terms of interference and obstacles compared to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Shelly Qubino Wave 1PM — The smart switch allows users to control and measure the energy consumption of a wide range of household appliances and office equipment such as electrical outlets, security systems, heaters, radiators, switches, and more. Power measurement is performed extremely quickly. The Shelly Qubino Wave 1PM smart switch is designed to fit most standard electrical boxes and switches. What’s new here is the use of Z-Wave protocol instead of Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, which significantly improves performance with a greater range, higher level of data security, and privacy.
