Elite Screens Introduces Motorized Projector Screen with ALR Material The Starling Tab-Tension Screen Features 1.5-Gain 3D-2D Projection Material Tough Enough to Come in a Retractable Tab-Tensioned Format By RS Staff Published: December 27, 2017 ⋅ Updated: April 15, 2019 Elite Screens announced that its Starling Tab-Tension electric projector screen now features the CineGrey 5D ambient light rejecting (ALR) Material. This is a high (1.5) gain 3D-2D projection material tough enough to come in a retractable tab-tensioned format. “Ambient light rejecting materials allow large projection displays to assume the primary role of the household video source.” said David Rodgers, marketing manager, Elite Screens. “Historically, ambient light has washed out the projected image limiting its applications to the ‘dark room out back’. Now, you not only get world class image quality in either a light or dark room; but you can replace a large flat panel display with a larger-than-life presentation. It even rolls up and out of sight when you’re ready to call it a night.” EliteProAV’s starling tab-tension ALR projection screen combines the qualities of an ambient light rejecting (ALR) projector screen material with an electronic “roll-up” format that without damaging the material’s micro-filters. ALR projection screens enhance picture quality with brighter imagery and more defined contrast levels. They are desired because of their ability to counter the “wash out” effect of ambient light. This is huge because it means that a large TV panel can be replaced by a larger-than-life projection display at a fraction of the cost. This is only possible because the ALR material allows the projector and screen to emerge from the dark room out back and assume its role in the brightly lit living spaces where everyone wants to be. The CineGrey 5D® is a .35mm thick PVC material that comprises of a silver-gray reflective textured surface with a tinted diffusion layer. Its 1.5 gain reflectivity greatly enhances image brightness while enhancing black levels and color contrast. The CineGrey 5D® material is ISF certified for its ability to achieve D65 color neutrality, superb contrast and dynamic range bringing a world class performance to any installation. It is available in a 16:9 aspect ratio with 92”, 106”, 120”, and 135” sizes available. This angular-reflective material is ideal for use with floor or ceiling-mounted projectors in either residential or business applications. Its 110° overall half-gain angle makes it ideal for theater-style seating while it both enhances picture brightness while retaining 88% polarization during 3D presentations. For added flatness, a precision made tab-tension system with side-cords running along the screen’s sides ensures that the CineGrey 5D® manual tab-tension presents a perfectly flat projection surface. There is also extra drop space at the top of the screen’s black matte borders to accommodate higher ceiling applications. Its retractable format gives end users the versatility to bring home a massive screen without dedicating the wall space solely for that purpose. When it’s not in use, the screen retracts back into its casing. Aesthetically, this allows the end user to proverbially “explore the space” in room design without sacrificing a large section of wall space. Most importantly is its innovative tab-tension design ensures that the viewers enjoy a perfectly flat movie screen surface; something rarely encountered with roll-up film screens. A strong tubular motor swiftly raises and lowers the material using its superior weight tolerance and extended operational lifespan. The Starling design encases its material from within a stylish arcuate-profiled full aluminum cassette that is black enamel coated and equipped with flush-wall floating brackets so that the installation is perfectly centered every time. An installation kit along with full IR/RF control package is included. This also includes exterior up-stop-down buttons on the end cap a detachable 3-way (up/stop/down) wall switch as well as an extended IR receiver for in-ceiling applications, an RS-232 cable for serial communication and a 5-12v trigger to coordinate the screen’s drop and rise with the projector’s power cycle. Elite’s Starling Tab Tension CineGrey 5D® Projection Screen and is available through the dedicated System Integrator (ProAV) channel in a 16:9 aspect ratio wit 92”, 106”, 120”, and 135” sizes available.
