Marantz has launched its PM8005 integrated amplifier and the SA8005 super-audio compact-disc (SACD) player & DAC to its line of hi-fi components.
An upgrade of the PM8004 integrated amplifier, the new PM8005 adds optimized power handling characteristics and a redesign of the large double-shielded Toroidal transformer’s circuitry for improved bandwidth power. The new SA8005 SACD player features faster, low-noise and lower impedance symmetrical circuits with high-quality components. The loading mechanism virtually eliminates resonance, while its reduced distortion spectrum gets the very best audio quality from SACDs.
“These two new, optimized models bring to the market hi-fi products that represent a combination of the best in new technology at a price point within a range that many consumers can appreciate,” said Paul Belanger, product manager, D+M Group.“They build on our acclaimed previous 8004 series, featuring improved components and circuitry for even-better audio quality and expanded connectivity.”
PM8005 Integrated Amplifier (MSRP: $1,199)
The PM8005 fully discrete current-feedback integrated amplifier offers a powerful 2 x 70W into 8 ohms, while the symmetrical circuits ensure perfect image balancing. For unique audio experience, Marantz designers have shaped and optimized the power handling characteristics and redesigned the large double-shielded Toroidal transformer’s circuitry to optimize bandwidth power. The result is a current-feedback amplifier with a massive energy reserve, the company says.
To further insure the best sound quality, the PM8005 features current feedback topology and Marantz exclusive hyper-dynamic amplifier modules (HDAMs) for detailed audio reproduction, as well as a triple-layer bottom plate to help eliminate vibration. The PM8005 also provides source-direct mode for the purest audio signal and moving magnet Phono input.
The PM8005 has high-quality speaker terminals (A/B switchable), discrete input buffer circuit, and gold-plated inputs/outputs. The system remote controls the amplifier and the matching SA8005 SACD player & DAC.
SA8005 Super Audio Compact-Disc Player with USB-DAC (MSRP: $1,199)
Besides a SACD player, the SA8005also functions as a standalone digital-to-analog convertor (DAC). The unit has optical and coaxial digital input for various digital sources, a USB-A input on the front panel for popular portable devices, as well as an asynchronous USB-B input for direct connection to a PC. The asynchronous USB-B input supports decoding and playback of high resolution audio DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz formats and features a newly developed ground/signal isolator technology which virtually eliminates PC noise.
The SA8005 also features an accurate dual-system clock, a Toroidal transformer, a double-layered bottom plate for extra stability, fully discrete headphone amplifier, and a system remote, which controls the SA8005 and the matching PM8005 amplifier.
