MartinLogan has announced the relaunch of their Installer Series of custom installation speakers, including two ultra-compact in-ceiling speakers with 3.5-inch woofers. Completely redesigned, the new Installer Series features 9 models, including five in-ceiling and two in-wall models designed for indoor use and two in-ceiling models designed for all-weather applications.
The Installer Series by MartinLogan is a line of affordable, high-performance custom installation in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. These products are available through authorized custom installation specialists and carry the full MartinLogan warranty. Each speaker features titanium dome tweeters and mineral-filled polypropylene drivers. Paintable micro-perf, bezel-free grilles are secured with high-strength magnets and provide an aesthetic that blends discreetly into any ceiling or wall. Each model comes with a mounting-lock system that couples the speaker’s vibration-resistant ABS chassis firmly to walls and ceilings.
The IC3 and IC3-AW in-ceiling speakers feature 3.5-inch woofers. The mounting-locks on both models are upgraded to die-cast aluminum to maximize strength while allowing a reduction to the physical size of each mounting-lock. The woofer surround on the IC3, molded directly onto the speaker’s chassis, essentially turns the speaker enclosure into the woofer basket. This solution maximizes woofer size and performance while keeping the speaker extremely small, according to the company.
The IC8-AW and IC3-AW are designed specifically for all-weather applications and feature numerous design considerations ideal for outdoor and other high-moisture applications, such as covered patios and bathrooms. Each crossover has a conformal coating to maximize water-resistant properties and special assembly techniques ensure that all driver attachment points on the face of the speakers are completely sealed to remove the risk of moisture penetration. The grilles included with these models are specially coated to guarantee material stability during extended periods of exposure to moisture.
Titanium dome tweeters used throughout the Installer Series are ferrofluid damped and cooled for smooth high-frequency performance. Mineral-filled polypropylene cone bass/midrange drivers feature computer-optimized ferrite magnets and high-power motor structures.
Each speaker includes a full-size installation template featuring quick-reference instructions and die-cut guides for marking the cutout hole. Pre-installation brackets are available for each model. To match modern aesthetics, paintable, bezel-free, low profile square grilles are also available for select in-ceiling speakers.
MartinLogan’s new Installer Series speakers will begin shipping in March 2019.
