Trinnov has announced a plan to improve its range of AV processors with the addition of an optional firmware upgrade for the Altitude32.

Since its introduction, the Altitude32 has continuously received software updates. This series of software updates demonstrated that building an AV processor around an Intel-based platform is a sustainable and logical approach to AV processor design, by preventing the inevitable obsolescence of DSP-based products.

Continuing its efforts to support high-channel count installations, this fall Trinnov will release an optional software update for the Altitude32 that will enable it to provide a total of 48 channels, without any additional hardware being required. The additional 16 output channels can be used to support up to four-way active speakers, more subwoofers, or larger arrays of surround channels. Trinnov also expects to be the first company to provide discrete rendering of all 34 channels provided for in the Dolby Atmos specification.
