Gibson Guitar confirmed the departure of Bob Weissburg as global executive VP.

Weissburg was appointed to the position in early March.

“I felt it was in the best interest of the people at Onkyo and Gibson that I leave the company. I was really impressed with the people from Onkyo both here and in Japan and wish them well in the future.”

Weissburg, who reported directly to Gibson chairman/CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, was hired to work closely with all groups to help grow the pro audio, CE and musical instruments brands.

Weissburg was also working directly with Onkyo USA’s president and the Onkyo team to expand and grow the Onkyo business.

Gibson early this year closed on a deal in which it acquired a majority of Onkyo USA and became the second largest shareholder of parent Onkyo Corp. in Japan.
