Wolf Cinema Releases Six New Ultra HD, 4K-Ready D-ILA Home Cinema Projectors

Wolf Cinema has released upgrades to four existing home theater projectors, plus two new projector and processor ensembles, built around 6th generation three-chip D-ILA light engine technologies.

Wolf Cinema has released upgrades to four existing home theater projectors, plus two new projector and processor ensembles, built around sixth-generation three-chip D-ILA light engine technologies.

The existing four platforms—models SDC-8, SDC-10, SDC-12 and SDC-15—have been upgraded to provide for compatibility with all forthcoming Ultra HD (4K) consumer video content. These projectors incorporate 18 Gbps Ultra HD HDMI 2.0 inputs with HDCP 2.2 compatibility—with 4K60 4:4:4 sources—in addition to a ~30-percent increase in peak white levels over previous editions (to ~1900 ANSI lumens), HDR compatibility, VariScope aspect ratio memories, and custom factory gamut and gamma calibrations.

Two new projectors have also been developed for 2016, mating the SDC-12 and SDC-15 theater projectors with a custom outboard ProScaler MK IV video processor.

“This is truly an exciting time for home theater enthusiasts around the world,” said Jim McGall, director of sales for Wolf Cinema. “The promise of breathtakingly detailed images from 4K content can now be fully realized with these Ultra HD-ready home theater projectors. They each come with an all-new, fourth generation V4K temporal mapping technology core, which can display true 4096 x 2160 content on very large home cinema screens.”

“But while the pixel count and refresh rates are extremely high, it’s the combination of an accurate color palette, improved dynamic range and ultra-deep shadow detail performance that really makes the visual difference,” said McGall. “And the two special editions with our latest external ProScaler MK IV video processor will satisfy even the most discriminating video enthusiast – with an expanded CMS calibration suite, advanced noise reduction algorithms, multiple HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs, plus our popular E-VariScope imaging technology, eliminating those unwanted top/bottom ‘black bars’ when firing onto ultra-wide 2.35:1 CinemaScope screens.”

Wolf Cinema will be showcasing the SDC-15 Ultra 4K at their Venetian demo suite #29-103, at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas, NV, January 6-9, 2016.
