Proficient’s Stack of New Receivers

Proficient Audio has added three audio/video receivers to its extensive line of home audio products. The new receivers, combined with its speakers, multi-room audio controllers, and accessories, make now Proficient a complete line.

“These new receivers give dealers a single brand solution. It will make marketing and selling systems easier,” said Keith Marshall, president of Proficient. “Not only will installers like the features and reliability our receivers provide, they’ll be able to get all of their audio equipment from one brand and utilize our new end-user marketing materials.”

The top of the new receiver line is the M80, a fully featured model equipped with the complete suite of audio technologies from Dolby and DTS, including DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Headphone.

It has HDMI inputs and outputs, plus Silicon Optix video scaling to convert all incoming video signals to HDTV resolution. Each of the M80’s seven high-current amplifier channels is capable of 130 watts output into 8 ohms, and a full set of preamp outputs allows connection of external amplifiers. An RS-232 interface lets installers connect the M80 to third-party control systems. MSRP is $1,250.

The M70 is designed for high-quality surround systems on a budget. It includes HDMI switching and an RS-232 port for external control. Each of its seven high-current channels is rated at 100 watts into 8 ohms. It includes Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, and DTS ES-Discrete processing. MSRP is $900.

The M40 is a straightforward stereo receiver, yet it offers several features designed to make it more versatile and useful for the custom installer. It can be used for a stand-alone 2-channel sound system or, with impedance-balancing volume controls, it will easily drive a four room sound system. Features include composite video switching, a front audio/video input, two subwoofer outputs, and an input for a record player. Power output is 80 watts per channel, and MSRP is $425.
