D&H Show to Feature Powerhouse Vendors

An increased focus on technology business and services, and new manufacturers mark distributor's biggest event to date

Harrisburg, PA — D&H Distributing, the national computer and consumer electronics distributor, is inviting resellers, dealers, and integrators nationwide to its fourth-annual Digital Convergence Show, to take place on September 29, 2005, at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center in Camp Hill, PA (Harrisburg area).

D&H expects more than 60 manufacturers and 700 attendees at the event, which offers 12 rotating seminars from industry leaders such as Microsoft, Intel and Cisco on convergence technology and strategies for selling into the digital home marketplace. The show will also feature several panel discussions focused on business practices and strategies, which serve as forums for attendees and category experts to interact with comments and questions.

The agenda will include a keynote address from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), for whom D&H recently created an “Affinity” program supporting CEA’s specialty A/V retailers and professional integrators. The show is a free event open to resellers, integrators and dealers across the US; previous Convergence Shows were attended mostly by D&H’s regional customers. D&H customers at the show will be privy to one-day-only, Show Special discounts on the exhibitor sales floor.

Educational sessions at this year’s show will focus on business- and service-oriented information, a welcomed complement to the product-based seminars traditionally offered at trade events. For instance, Cisco’s presentation on SMB networking opportunities not only provides information on the company’s VoIP, VPN and switching technologies, but it enhances the solutions provider’s ability to promote these products among SMB end-users, describing how they drive employee productivity, support innovative services, improve customer satisfaction and reduce operating costs.

Similarly, Microsoft’s Media Center presentation will not only demonstrate the capabilities of the device, but will describe how the MCE can be cost-effectively integrated into a larger digital home network. The delivery of shrewd business tactics such as these is in keeping with D&H’s efforts to teach its customers how to integrate and market complex solutions in new verticalsnot just provide speeds and feeds.

“The digital home market, and our Convergence Show, is evolving to a point where customers need more strategic, big-picture instruction on how to succeed,” said Dan Schwab, vice president of marketing at D&H. “While we’re still educating resellers and CE dealers on cross-market technologies, both sides are becoming more savvy about the merchandise itself. They’re looking for more sophisticated approaches to pitching these turn-key solutions in real-world environments. That’s the value of hosting a range of manufacturers in one venue: You get a full breadth of business-oriented expertise, based on what’s really working in the field.”

Seminars will include:
Microsoft – Windows XP MCE 2005
Cisco – New SMB Networking Opportunities
Creative Labs – MP3 Evolution
Cables To Go – Making Sense of A/V Wiring
Russound – Basic Distributed Audio
Harmony – Universal Learning Remotes
Intel – The Digital Home
Western Digital – NETCENTER
And more
