The GE-Smart Digital DataCenter product line provides a central connection and distribution point for all information services entering the home; the new line provides homeowners with a system that can manage the convergence of digital technologies in the home such as high-speed Internet access, telephone, cable and satellite TV, home networking and home control. The system is based on a modular architecture that allows the homeowner to buy what they need now with the upgrade capabilities.
The HomeServer–powered by Microsoft Technologies–provides integration for everything from home control to internet connection sharing and management of MP3 files. The server platform allows the user to view an interface from a wide variety of display devices–a pocket PC or Internet appliance to a web browser on a standard PC. Designed to be sold by builders, the Digital DataCenter is offered in four basic technology packages–Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The builder or homeowner chooses technology levels and the number of connections in the home to complete the systems.
