Rear-Projection TV Revenue Climbs in October

Pacific Media Associates (PMA) reports that rear-projection televisionsRPTVsposted a three-percent revenue gain in October.

Menlo Park, CAPacific Media Associates (PMA) reports that rear-projection televisionsRPTVsposted a three-percent revenue gain in October in spite of a 2.7-percent drop in unit sales over the previous month.

The average street price jumped 5.5 percent for the month, said Rosemary Abowd, VP. The key reason for this large increase was the dramatic growth in the fraction of sales of 1080p resolution microdisplay-technology models, from 13 percent in August to 24 percent in September and a whopping 32 percent in October.

DLP continues to be the dominant technology with nearly two-thirds of the total revenues, but two of Sonys LCD displays placed number one
and two on PMAs best-selling RPTV list for October.
