Celerity Introduces Detachable Fiber Optic HDMI Solution

Celerity Technologies will demonstrate its products at CEDIA EXPO 2012, booth 1443 in Indianapolis.

Celerity Technologies will demonstrate its products at CEDIA EXPO 2012, booth 1443 in Indianapolis, including its Detachable Fiber Optic HDMI Solution.

Fiber optics have emerged as a high bandwidth and reliable solution for sending uncompressed HDMI signals over long distance while fully supporting HDMI specifications for video, audio and data. Celerity’s product offers a fast and reliable two-step fiber connection process.

The size of the connector at each end of the fiber optic cable measures only .27-inch x 1-inch (7mm x 25mm) so that pulling the fiber optic pre-wire cable is easy yet requires no time-consuming fiber terminations. A detachable HDMI connector is then affixed to the fiber optic cable plug for a simple two-step process that saves time and ensures reliability.

“At Celerity, we wanted to find a way to make a better long distance, fiber optic HDMI solution. Copper cables limit distance and picture quality as do sender and receiver “baluns” which also require external power supplies and additional cables. That’s way too much unnecessary complexity. We’ve solved those issues once and for all,” said Buzz Delano, director of business development for Celerity.

“Celerity’ Detachable Fiber Optic HDMI makes it possible in just two steps for installers to pre-wire and the fiber optic cable and attach it to the HDMI component,” said Delano. “There’s no need for any type of fiber optic terminations that even on a good day are a tedious procedure and there are no extra devices needed. Just pre-wire and connect. Our product will be a huge benefit for installers.”

The Celerity Detachable Fiber Optic cables are the first in the world to support Audio Return Channel over fiber optics. Professional installers can easily integrate the TV audio channel seamlessly into the distributed audio feed via the system’s AV receiver or control processor. Celerity meets HDMI High Speed certification with full support for 1080p, 3D, 4K and 36-bit Deep Color so the full picture quality, detail and color characteristics are visible. HDMI data support for HDCP, EDID and CEC functionality round out the product specifications.

“Celerity is the solution we’ve all been waiting for,” said Delano. “The picture quality, the installation ease and compatibility far exceed all of the other long distance HDMI solutions on the market. It’s really cool how small and simple we’ve been able to make it.”
