Barco Residential Receives PVA Certification

Becomes the first projection manufacturer to be certified by the Professional Video Alliance.

The Professional Video Alliance (PVA) has announced that Barco Residential is the first manufacturer of video projectors to receive PVA Certification across its full range of products. The newly certified projectors were on display during the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2024 show in Barcelona, where PVA founder Gregg Loewen presented the certification.

Barco Receives PVA Certification
Barco Residential is presented with its PVA Certification at ISE 2024. L-R: Gregg Loewen, founder, PVA; Daniel Nilsson, global director, Barco Residential; and Andy Jones, sales engineer, Barco Residential.

Products earning the “PVA Certified” designation are guaranteed to have met or exceeded all manufacturer specifications and delivered the stated reference-level performance under simulated conditions. PVA visited Barco headquarters in Belgium to complete the testing. During that weeklong process, eight product series — Medea, Bragi, Balder, Hodr, Njord, Freya, Freya+, and Nerthus — were put through their paces and earned PVA Certified status.

“At Barco, we believe calibration and standardization are the key ingredients for a professional projection system,” says Andy Jones, business development manager cinema at Barco. “It is what separates truly great home theater solutions from the rest, creating a spectacular experience every time. This certification again proves Barco’s dedication to this topic.”

“Barco Residential is a market leader through innovation and its pursuit of excellence,” says Loewen. “We applaud Barco’s choice to undergo third-party testing and receive certification to further elevate its positioning. The PVA Certified designation is an added guarantee that will assure Barco’s customers that their investment is well placed.”

PVA continues to accept applications for its certification program. Manufacturers can submit their products to the PVA offices or approved third-party certification organizations. In the case of Barco Residential, PVA can visit the manufacturer for in-facility testing and make recommendations for improving the products.

In addition to its product certification programs, the PVA offers training for video professionals worldwide in performance theater design, video product selection, installation, and system optimization.

PVA will offer training specifically for Barco Residential products systems; interested dealers should contact their distributors for more information.

PVA also hosts several sessions throughout the year, available to anyone seeking additional certification and training. Upcoming sessions are listed below. Contact [email protected] for information about Zoom/virtual and private/semi-private class offerings.
