CES Reveals Innovations 2006 Honorees

The 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has unveiled its 2006 Design and Engineering Awards Honorees.

New York, NY–The 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has unveiled its 2006 Design and Engineering Awards Honorees. Sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association, producer of CES, and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America, the International CES Innovations Awards highlight product advancements in technology design and engineering.

“With more than 1,000 entries from 160 companies, the Innovations program continues to grow in size and prestige year after year,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA. “Innovations has become a hallmark for the best designed products in consumer technology and we are excited to showcase this year’s honorees at the 2006 International CES.”

Winning entries from 30 product categories will be displayed at the 2006 International CES in the new Innovations Plus at the Sands. In addition to Innovations honorees, CES’ Innovations Plus at the Sands features emerging technologies and includes more than 12 product TechZones, 75 conference sessions including Industry Insiders, International Gateway exhibitors and Dave Graveline’s “Into Tomorrow” live radio broadcasts. The 2006 International CES runs January 5-8, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards program provides manufacturers and developers the opportunity to have their products judged by an independent panel of journalists, designers and engineers. The Best of Innovations designation is awarded to products that earned the highest honors from the panel of judges. These “best of the best” products will be on display during CES Unveiled: The Official Press Event of the CES and in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center. CES Unveiled will take place Tuesday, January 3, 2006, from 4-7 p.m., in the Bellini Ballroom at the Sands.

Among the honorees are: Belkin’s TuneStage for iPod in the audio accessories category; Polk Audio’s I- Sonic Entertainment System in the audio components category; LG Electronics’ 50-inch Wireless Plasma Display in the digital displays category; Russound’s SMS3 -350 Smart Media Server in the home networking category; and Nile Corp.’s Intellicontrol ICS in the home systems category.
