Perfect Vision & Sound, headquartered in Farmington and founded in 1992 by Robert Serio, a resident of West Simsbury, has been acquired by Joseph Chordas IV and his son Joseph Chordas V, two lifelong Connecticut residents. Serio, who recognized the emerging trend of high‑end video and multichannel surround sound, founded Perfect Vision & Sound with the simple philosophy of delivering the finest audio and video experience possible, tailored to each client’s needs.
In the intervening years, Perfect Vision & Sound created custom home video theaters for hundreds of satisfied consumers, businesses, and even celebrities including Martha Stewart and Bob Kaufman, co-founder of Bob’s Furniture.
The company’s current consumer and residential product line runs the gamut from home theater design and installation, whole-home audio, and TV and display installation to smart home integration, networking and infrastructure, outdoor AV systems, specialized lighting, and motorized shades. Commercial solutions include conference room systems, training and education, digital signage, and remote collaboration.
“When I decided the time was right to sell, I set out to find someone equally passionate about the business, and importantly, someone with a service-first track record and orientation,” says Serio, who is staying on with the business to ensure a smooth transition. “Joe Chordas, and his son Joe, the fifth, are already transforming the backend of the business with the latest technology and are actively expanding our roster of products and services. It’s an exciting transition that will provide new solutions for our clients.”

Chordas comes from a 35-year professional career includes 25+ years in the professional audio-visual and streaming technology industry for companies as diverse as VBrick Systems, Optibase, Haivision, ZeeVee, and Kramer. He has significant experience in technology integration and customer-focused service delivery having worked directly with distributors, professional AV integrators, system designers, consultants, manufacturers, and end-user clients.
“When I left corporate America, I decided to chart a new path in collaboration with my son — leveraging our entrepreneurial spirit and where I could use my experience and love for the audio-video industry to assist local consumers and businesses,” says Chordas. “Bob has built a strong business with happy clients and enormous goodwill. We are fully committed to evolving the professional audio and video business by expanding our capabilities in the smart home market. We’ll also expand our services with an even wider selection of motorized shades, specialized lighting, and video security — as well as by expanding our footprint into the corporate, education and government markets.
“Most critically, we are fully focused on maintaining the personalized service Perfect Vision & Sound are known for and ensuring every project reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to quality, precision, and integrity.”
The company is continuing its commitment to the Farmington Valley by moving from Canton into new offices, complete with a demo facility, in Farmington. Its new address is Perfect Vision & Sound, 195 Scott Swamp Road, Suite 110, Farmington, Conn. 06032.
