EDGE Assists New Orleans Revitalization

EDGE Group New England member, Necessities, recently lent a hand on a 74-house project north of New Orleans.

New Orleans, LA–The EDGE Distributors Group continues to support the revitalization of New Orleans. Earlier this month, Chet Flynn of Massachusetts-based Necessities — The EDGE Group’s New England member — spent time lending a hand on a 74-house project in a town called Lacombe, located north of New Orleans.

“In December 2006 Habitat for Humanity started clearing land for this project, with plans to move 74 families in by December 2007,” Flynn explained. “I worked on a team charged with the task of pouring cement footings and installing front steps on the new homes. It is a wonderful experience to take part in a collaborative effort that will ultimately help residents rebuild their lives. The EDGE Distributors Group has been committed to helping New Orleans residents recover from Katrina since 2005, and we will continue to do so, for as long as it takes.”

In October 2005, The EDGE Distributors Group donated $40,000 in disaster relief funds to the American Red Cross for humanitarian assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast. Three of EDGE’s 14 regional members cover territories that include Gulf Coast states.
