ELAN Releases New VIA!Tools Software

Upgrade allows dealers to work with up to 32 subsystems in a project, and provides two-way control for additional lighting, security, and HVAC partner products.

Lexington, KY — ELAN Home Systems is releasing the newest version of VIA!TOOLS, its setup software for multi-room home systems, at CEDIA EXPO 2008 in Denver, Colorado.

The newest version of VIA!TOOLS features the ability to link up to eight ELAN SS1 System Stations together for a total of 32 RS-232 Com Ports — further expanding whole-home control options for ELAN dealers and their clients. The update also features an expanded library of the newest two-way serial drivers for enhanced lighting, security, pool and spa control as well as support for ELANs new 10-inch tabletop/under-cabinet widescreen control panel with enhanced graphics.

This latest software update gives dealers almost unlimited freedom in system design at the most sophisticated levels. RS-232 serial communications is the standard in Whole Home control because of its precision and reliability, so being able to have access to up to 32 RS-232 Com Ports brings extreme flexibility to architects, designers, dealers and installers. The upgrade also includes new two-way drivers for Lutrons Homeworks lighting control systems and Jandys AquaLink RS for total pool and spa temperature and chlorine control.

“Our latest VIA!TOOLS update was developed in direct response to our Dealers single most requested feature to date expanded RS-232 Com Port capability. Our engineers met the challenge in a way that offers a creative control solution allowing designers to ‘grow’ systems as users control demands increase, said Bob Farinelli, ELANs president and chief technology officer.

VIA!TOOLS version 9.0 will debut at CEDIA and will be available to dealers as a completely free download shortly thereafter.
