Athom, the company behind Homey, has earned Matter 1.5 certification from the Connectivity Standards Alliance for Homey’s Matter software component, available on Homey Pro (2023–2026), Homey Pro mini, and Homey Self-Hosted Server. Homey’s Matter 1.5 implementation supports additional device categories, including EV chargers, heat pumps, solar panels, and major appliances. Beyond controlling Matter devices, Homey can also share supported devices already connected to or integrated with Homey via Zigbee, Z-Wave, infrared, Bluetooth, 433 MHz, Wi-Fi, or proprietary manufacturer APIs. Using the Matter Bridge app, these devices can appear as standard Matter accessories in Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant. Homey continues to control the original device, while the receiving platform provides access to its Matter-supported features.
The Matter Bridge app supports device types including lights, sockets, thermostats, locks, window coverings, and sensors. Compatibility and available features can vary by platform; the app’s listing provides the latest information.
Availability
Matter 1.5 support is available now on Homey Pro (2023–2026), Homey Pro mini, and Homey Self-Hosted Server. Homey Pro and Homey Pro mini include a built-in Thread Border Router for Matter-over-Thread devices.
On Homey Self-Hosted Server, users can add Matter-over-Thread devices to an existing Thread network through the Homey Mobile App on a compatible iOS or Android device. A Thread Border Router must be available on the user’s local network.
Certification
Homey’s Matter software component is certified by the Connectivity Standards Alliance under certificate ID CSA26025SWC60263-M1. The Matter 1.5 certification was issued on June 29, 2026, for firmware version 13.3.0.
