Jetbuilt has announced that Tom Peters, chief operating officer, has retired from the company after more than 45 years in the audiovisual industry. Peters plans to devote more time to family and travel while continuing his industry involvement through Sustainability in AV (SAVe).
“Tom’s contributions to the industry span systems integration, business operations, and association leadership,” says Paul Dexter, founder and chief executive officer of Jetbuilt. “He brought that broad perspective to Jetbuilt, along with a firsthand understanding of the challenges integrators face. We’re grateful for his contributions to our team and our users, and we look forward to seeing him continue to serve the industry through SAVe.”
Peters joined Jetbuilt in 2021 as business development manager and later became director of business development. In 2024, he was named chief operating officer to support Jetbuilt in a new era of growth. An early adopter of Jetbuilt as an audiovisual integrator, Peters brought firsthand knowledge of the platform and the workflows it supports. He played an integral role in Jetbuilt’s evolution from a quoting tool into a comprehensive platform for integrators to manage their entire businesses. Peters championed the launch of Jetbuilt’s Service module and Jetbot Service Desk, helping integrators generate recurring revenue through service packages without requiring additional resources.
Peters’ career included leadership roles across AV systems integration. He served as vice president and general manager of AVWashington-Avitecture before establishing an East Coast office for Integrated Media Systems in 2004. Two years later, he purchased that office and renamed it Applied Visual Communications, where he served as president until 2013.
As president of InfoComm International, Peters provided volunteer leadership for the broader AV industry. He also held roles at Corbett Technology Solutions and SybaTek, serving as SybaTek’s general manager for six years and overseeing sales, marketing, vendor relations, and coordination of design and sales teams. He later helped establish Visual Sound’s West Coast office as director of West Coast operations.
“But my biggest joy has been the multitude of people I have had the privilege to count as friends as well as associates, clients, and even competitors,” Peters says. “I can only hope that my passing through your lives has been as positive an impact as you have been on me.”
Peters is taking on the role of chairman of the SAVe a Second Life Committee. In that volunteer role, he will work with industry colleagues to develop programs that help underfunded organizations acquire working AV equipment no longer in use by its original owners. SAVe aims to extend equipment life and keep usable hardware out of landfills.
SAVe is a nonprofit organization working to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. SAVe’s work includes a focus on Goal 12, responsible consumption and production, through equipment reuse, repurposing, and waste reduction.
