NetStreams to Deliver Multi-room Video Distribution

The new DigiLinX driver allows residential installers to tap VUDU for a multi-room video solution.

Austin, TX–NetStreams announced it will be the first company to deliver multi-room video distribution solution using the VUDU XL as a video server. When connected to the DigiLinX IP-Based Distributed Audio, Video and Control system, content streaming through the VUDU XL set top box, can be distributed throughout the home, and controlled via DigiLinX. NetStreams will make a new driver available to authorized DigiLinX dealers as a separate download.

“NetStreams is excited to be the first to offer a control driver and multi-room distribution solution for the VUDU service,” said Sanjay Castelino, vice president of marketing and business development, NetStreams. “We make it a priority to provide our customers with the best options for integrating Internet distributed video content with multi-room AV systems. By installing a ViewLinX behind the desired displays, the VUDU movie experience and compelling interface can be extended to any room.”

Designed for integration into high-end home theaters, the VUDU XL offers users instant access to more than 5,000 movies directly through their Televisions, without requiring a PC, cable or satellite TV subscription. With its one terabyte of storage, the VUDU XL and the DigiLinX system enable home users to watch movies in the living room, kitchen, bedroom, or other room, rather than having access through one TV.

“Integration of the VUDU XL with DigiLinX provides a compelling solution for both installers and the end-user,” said Patrick Cosson, VP of Marketing, VUDU. “We are delighted to be working closely with NetStreams to bring advantages of the very latest multi-room technology to the custom installation marketplace.”

DigiLinX provides real time encoding from the VUDU XL’s component outputs that are routed through NetStreams’ IP Video component, the MediaLinX MLAV300. The resulting uncompressed AV stream can then be distributed over the TCP/IP network, and be controlled from any TV on the network or through in-wall touch pads. The DigiLinX IP-control driver for the VUDU XL will be downloadable from the dealer section of the NetStreams website.
