With this in mind, Parks Associates will host its 21st-annual CONNECTIONS: The Premier Connected Home Conference, May 23-25 in San Francisco, to discuss strategies to get consumers more excited about energy management, as well as ways to leverage the billions of smart home devices found in U.S. broadband households. “Safety and security are the leading value propositions for the smart home, yet more people own smart thermostats than any other product category,” said Tom Kerber, director of IoT strategy, Parks Associates. “At CONNECTIONS, we will examine the convergence in the smart home and energy management and why energy management solutions are experiencing strong growth.” “Smart Home: Quest for Compelling Use Cases” noted that 54 percent of U.S. broadband households are interested in a monitoring solution that identifies problems with any major appliance and 50 percent are interested in a solution that identifies ways of improving energy efficiency. Overall, U.S. consumers show a preference for energy solutions with actionable intelligence that are informative and proactive, over basic monitoring and reporting solutions. “Energy Management Solutions: Moving the Market Forward,” Wednesday, May 24, at 10:30 a.m., moderated by Tom Kerber, features the following speakers: • Amena Ali, chief revenue officer, Whisker Labs • Seth Frader-Thompson, co-founder and president, EnergyHub • Olaf Lohr, director of business development, sonnen • Stuart Lombard, Founder and CEO, ecobee CONNECTIONS sponsors include Intel Corporation, Vivint Smart Home, Asurion, Greenwave Systems, Assurant Solutions, HelloTech, Xively by LogMeIn, Alarm.com, Centercode, ROC-Connect, Support.com, ULE Alliance, Verisk, AMT Warranty, Arrayent, Audio Analytic, Ayla Networks, Cirrent, Cross Country Home Services, Deutsche Telekom, EVRYTHNG, FIBARO, mnubo, OneEvent Technologies, Whisker Labs, Z-Wave, Amazon Alexa, HomeAdvisor, Nortek Security & Control, Tyco, leakSMART, and MivaTek.
