Sonance Licenses iPod Technology to NuVo

Hebron, KY — Dana Innovations, parent company of Sonance and iPort, has signed a licensing agreement with NuVo Technologies, whereby NuVo will license Dana Innovations’ iPod-integration technology.

NuVo will use the technology to introduce a new On-Wall NuVoDock for use with its whole home audio systems. A formal product release is targeted for the U.S. CEDIA EXPO in September 2009.

“We are pleased to welcome NuVo as the latest iPort technology licensee. This continues to make iPort innovation available to more customers seeking an iPod control solution,” said Ari Supran, chief operating officer at Dana Innovations.

Dana Innovations’ patented iPort design and technologies encompass docking structures which are able to accept the full range of Apple iPod models, delivering full control including audio playback and song selection through a multi-zone audio system.

“The NuVo license with iPort is the fourth license of the iPort trademark and technology and further validates iPort as the clear market leader for iPod docking innovation,” Supran added.

NuVo currently offers two tabletop iPod docks, called NuVoDocks, for use with its whole-home audio systems. The $399 NV-RIPS Remote NuVoDock for iPod System is hard-wired to the NuVo system; the $699 NV-WIPS offers wireless connectivity to the NuVo system. The upcoming on-wall NuVoDock that will result from today’s agreement will have an estimated retail price of $499.

“I have always admired Sonance’s sensitivity to design, and really appreciate the chance to work with them on such a creative and consumer-sensitive solution,” said David Rodarte, president and chief operating officer of NuVo Technologies. “Our customers have frequently requested an on-wall form factor for NuVoDock. We believe this terrific solution will further increase consumer awareness and desire for whole home audio systems.”
