Stewart Filmscreen is offering a new customized Crestron device driver for the operation of its control technology products, including motorized screens and LED lighting systems. The driver enables Crestron dealers and programmers to integrate control of Stewart screens and lighting products into a Crestron operating system, and is available now for download on the Crestron website.
“Partnering with Crestron to create a customized control driver will be highly beneficial for our customers in both the commercial and residential markets,” stated Don Parenta, director of sales for Stewart’s North America Commercial & Professional Products. “With the large percentage of systems incorporating Stewart products controlled by Crestron systems, dealers and installers will welcome the seamless integration the new driver provides, and end users will appreciate the simple, intuitive operation.”
The Crestron driver package supports Stewart’s IMC-100 Intelligent Motor Controller family of motor control for projection screens and window coverings. These controllers are integral to a wide range of Stewart products that include the Cabaret and Americana projection screens, as well as many other Stewart automation products. Stewart’s motor control technology is linked to lighting effects, which can now be programmed along with additional custom features by Crestron dealers using the new Crestron device driver.
The new Crestron driver package also supports Stewart’s newly launched ILC-100 Intelligent Lighting Controller, which uses LED controller technology to create lighting from a palette of up to 16.7 million colors, the company says. The lighting can be used for a wide range of commercial and residential applications, ranging from command and control, annunciation and signaling, to more traditional soffit and other architectural lighting settings. The unique color picking technology (ICT) integrated within the ILC-100, originally designed to support color laser and color copiers, is fully supported by the Crestron device driver. The LED controller technology that permits this color mixing is under license from Philips, freeing dealers from any requirement to obtain a separate license for each installation.
The Crestron device driver has the ability to control the Stewart motor or lighting controller through either a serial or Ethernet connection, giving installers flexibility with both new and existing installations. The Crestron driver allows automatic device driver integration within a Crestron project using either the Stewart Filmscreen IBT-100 (serial firewall adapter) or the Stewart eNode (Ethernet adapter). The Stewart IBT-100 is designed for entry-level systems where relatively simple commands are required, and the eNode Ethernet Adapter is useful where Apple iPhone or Apple iTouch connectivity is desirable.
Crestron dealers may obtain the appropriate device driver on the Crestron dealer bulletin board immediately. The control system will be on display in Stewart Filmscreen’s booth N925, at InfoComm in Las Vegas, Nevada, this week.
