Denon Introduces New Hi-Fi Stereo Network Receiver

The DRA-800H offers an advanced HDMI video section, voice-controllable wireless music, and traditional audio capabilities.

Denon has announced its first stereo network receiver with wireless music streaming and 4K HDMI capabilities, the DRA-800H. Featuring a newly designed L/R symmetric stereo power amplifier design, the Hi-Fi stereo receiver delivers audio fidelity from a variety of sources—including wireless music, CD, and phono — while a full-featured HDMI section with 4K Ultra HD support offers the latest 4K and HDR video pass-through capability, ARC (audio return channel), and the full suite of custom installer features, including smart remote management.

The newly designed power-amplifier section features a L/R symmetrical design and Denon custom capacitors. With an Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) winding power transformer for better tonal quality, the DRA-800H delivers 100 watts per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz–20 kHz, THD: 0.08%, 2-channel driven). Featuring double differential DAC circuitry, audio grade components and short signal path PCB layouts, the pre-power amplifier section helps reduce unwanted signal noise and achieve higher audio quality. With low impedance driver capability, the DRA-800H offers greater stability with a wide range of floor-standing and bookshelf loudspeakers for balanced, quality sound, according to the company.

Boasting AKM 32-bit D/A converters, the DRA-800H features high-resolution audio decoding with multiple lossless file types, including ALAC, FLAC and WAV at up to 24-bit/196 kHz. It’s also compatible with 2.8/5.6 MHz DSD files (DSD is the audio coding format of SACD). Access content from memory devices via the front panel USB, or over network sources. The stereo network receiver also supports other file types like MP3 and WMA.

The DRA-800H features five HDMI inputs and one output, which support 4K Ultra HD 60 Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub sampling, High Dynamic Range (HDR10), Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), 3D, and BT.2020 pass-through support. HDCP 2.3 processing is available on all HDMI ports. An HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) port also enables seamless transmission of audio directly from a smart TV to the receiver through the connected HDMI cable.

The DRA-800H works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant,, and Apple Siri. Listeners can use Amazon Alexa for a variety of commands, including switching inputs for different media players, while the Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri can be used to adjust the volume, skip to the next track, and more.

HEOS Built-in enables seamless wireless multi-room music streaming across compatible HEOS components from a variety of free and premium streaming services, including Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, TuneIn, iHeart Radio, Sound Cloud, SiriusXM, Tidal and more.

The DRA-800H Quick Start Guide provides simple instructions to get started. Once connected to a TV via HDMI, the Denon Setup Assistant walks users through a step-by-step set up process for simple installation.

Designed for easy integration and support, the DRA-800H offers IP control capability for major third-party control devices and Control4 SDPP (Simple Device Detection Protocol) certification for integration with Control4 home automation equipment. The receiver also features an IR (infrared) remote control jack on the rear panel for remote control. The compatibility with major remote monitoring and management services (Domotz Pro, ihiji Invision and OvrC) is offered for custom integrators to help reduce downtime of the system.

The DRA-800H ($499) is now available at authorized Denon retailers. For more information on the new stereo network receiver, visit
