Focal has introduced Mu-so Hekla, an all-in-one system that fuses performance with ease-of-use.
Inspired by Iceland’s Hekla volcano, the system delivers powerful, enveloping sound thanks to Dolby Atmos technology. From stereo to Dolby Atmos, Mu-so Hekla offers a suite of Customizable Audio Modes. Accessible through the Focal & Naim app, they include Sphere Music and Sphere Movie — both specially designed by Focal and Naim engineers. The Sphere module, found within the Naim Pulse Platform, ensures true high-fidelity sound reproduction through ultra-optimized, latency-free computing power, delivered via Hekla’s dual-core processor.
Mu-so Hekla connects to your music sources, including high-resolution streaming. Control it your way through the Focal & Naim app, smartwatch (Apple, Samsung), voice assistant or your home automation system. Hekla’s tactile volume dial offers a smooth, elegant way to adjust volume and access key features.
With versatile wired connections, including HDMI eARC and optical Toslink, Mu-so Hekla connects to your TV, gaming console, or CD/Blu-ray player, supporting everything from 2.0 setups to fully immersive 7.1.2 configurations. Powered by the Naim Pulse Platform, it offers instant access to your music. Stream wirelessly via AirPlay, Google Cast, UPnP, Bluetooth, or connect directly to streaming services such as TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, and QQ Music (China). The app’s Multiroom feature lets you synchronize playback across multiple Focal & Naim systems.
Design and Power
Behind its refined design lies a meticulously engineered acoustic architecture, with speaker drivers arranged for expansive coverage and clarity in both stereo and immersive configurations. Crafted from brushed anodized aluminum, Mu-so Hekla exudes understated luxury in a single, sculptural form. Its alternating brushed and bead-blasted finishes recall the precision detailing of fine watchmaking, echoing the “watch crown” design code found on Diva Utopia, while the finely perforated grille and signature volume dial add a touch of elegance. At the rear, the distinctive Naim heat sink combines heat regulation with integrated Wi-Fi connectivity.
Mu-so Hekla packs 15 speaker drivers powered by 660 watts to comfortably fill rooms up to 430 square feet/40 square meters with rich, detailed sound. The woofers provide rich, enveloping bass, with the option to add a subwoofer via the RCA output, while full-range drivers project sound that interacts naturally with walls and ceilings for an immersive experience. This spatialization, developed by Focal’s acoustic engineers, combines Beamforming and Crosstalk Cancellation technologies to ensure precise, detailed sound placement. For optimal performance, ADAPT intelligent tuning technology automatically calibrates the system to the room and listening preferences for perfectly personalized experience.
Mu-so Hekla launches November 6 at the Focal Powered by Naim store in Seoul. It will first be available in South Korea and China, followed by a global release in Q1 2026. It will be showcased at CES in Las Vegas (January 6-9, 2026) and ISE in Barcelona (February 3-6, 2026).
Mu-so Hekla will be available exclusively through the Focal Powered by Naim network of authorized retailers for $3600 USD and $4000 CAD in Q1 2026.
