Tech Showcase – The Latest Floorstanding Speakers

A look at some of the latest speakers that demand to be noticed.

For some homeowners, hiding the speakers is a crime — no matter what their interior designer might say. Here is a collection of some of the latest floorstanding speakers that sound as good as they look.

KEF Blade Speakers
KEF Blade in Grigio

KEF Blade Speakers

KEF refreshed the colors for its Blade One Meta and Blade Two Meta loudspeakers. The update introduces three new limited-edition, high-gloss metallic finishes with matching tone-on-tone drivers. Designed to align with 2025/26 furniture and interior design trends, the new seasonal colors replace the previous matte options by delivering bold, sleek colorways, now available in the following finishes: Sapphire (warm glowing gloss metallic blue/matching Uni-Q); Garnet (deep wine red, gloss metallic/matching Uni-Q); and Grigio (light/medium gloss metallic silver/matching Uni-Q).

Klipsch Klipschorn

Klipsch Klipschorn and La Scala

The new Klipsch Klipschorn AK7 and La Scala AL6 models feature new modified Tractrix midrange horns, updated compression drivers, new finish, and, for the first time, allows users to add an optional external Heritage Active Crossover. While these updates elevate the Klipschorn and La Scala to new heights, their enduring designs remain a testament to time, delivering all the detail and emotion of the live concert hall — just as founder Paul W. Klipsch intended when he introduced the original Klipschorn in 1946.

The Klipschorn and La Scala’s three-way horn-loaded designs deliver high efficiency. Each driver is coupled to a precisely engineered horn and optimized for one of three passbands, generating greater acoustic power from lower wattage for crystal-clear sound with minimal distortion across the frequency spectrum.

To optimize high-frequency performance, the K-771 compression driver is paired with a patented, wide-dispersion extended phase plug. This minimizes cancellations and equalizes wavelengths, providing a wider, more consistent soundstage. This allows the Klipschorn and La Scala to deliver greater clarity and coverage than ever before.

JBL Summit Series

JBL Summit Series

The expanded Summit Series now spans five models — including the JBL Everest and K2 — and introduces three new designs — Makalu, Pumori, and Ama. With the addition of Summit Makalu, Summit Pumori, and Summit Ama, JBL offers a lineup that blends refined design, proprietary technologies, and unmatched dynamic performance.

The Summit Makalu, named after the world’s fifth-highest mountain and an imposing pyramid-shaped peak located just 19 kilometers (12 miles) from Everest, commands attention with its bold stature and sonic scale. As the flagship of the new additions, this 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker is designed to anchor large, immersive listening spaces with deep, articulate bass and soaring midrange detail. A 12-inch woofer and 8-inch midrange driver — both utilizing JBL’s proprietary HC4 composite cones — work in harmony with the patented D2 compression driver and precision-molded HDI Sonoglass horn to deliver stunning dynamics and crystal-clear imaging.

The Summit Pumori, inspired by Mount Pumori, affectionately known as the “Daughter of Everest,” captures the mountain’s grace and strength in sonic form. This 3-way floorstanding model is voiced for musical balance and purity. Its 10-inch woofer and 8-inch midrange driver are tuned to bring lifelike scale and warmth to every performance, while JBL’s signature D2 compression driver and HDI horn architecture preserve nuance and clarity.

Summit Ama, derived from Ama Dablam, one of the Himalayas’ most iconic and picturesque peaks whose name means “Mother’s Necklace,” is designed to reveal the heart of the music. This 2-way stand-mount loudspeaker pairs an 8-inch HC4 cone woofer with a D2 compression driver and HDI horn to deliver exceptional clarity, control, and coherence across the frequency spectrum.

Sony SS-CS3M2

Sony SS-CS3M2

The Sony SS-CS3M2 is a powerful 3-way, 4-driver floorstanding speaker that delivers immersive audio with deep bass, natural mids, and crisp highs. It features dual 5.12-inch woofers with reinforced cone for low-end impact, a wide-dispersion super tweeter and high-precision tweeter, and a bass reflex enclosure for distortion-free low frequencies. It is Hi-Res Audio certified (45 Hz–50,000 Hz frequency response) and an ideal match with Sony AV receivers and CS series components.

Monitor Audio Bronze Series 7G

Monitor Audio Bronze Series 7G

Monitor Audio’s Bronze Series 7G is built on over two decades of legacy and infused with the brand’s design DNA. The Bronze 7G Series has five distinctive models. At its heart, the flagship Bronze 300 7G floorstander leads a lineup that includes the compact Bronze 50 bookshelf, Bronze Centre Channel, Dolby Atmos Enabled speaker, and for the first time, a high-performance Bronze On-Wall speaker. With a potent 6-inch Ceramic-Coated Aluminum Magnesium (C-CAM) Bass, Bass-Mid Driver, and C-CAM tweeter platform across the series, Bronze 7G delivers not only a sleek aesthetic, but seamless timbre matching and sonic consistency, whatever your system setup.

The all-new C-CAM Gold Dome Tweeter continues a Monitor Audio hallmark dating back to 1982. This latest evolution of its technology delivers crisp, ultra-realistic high frequencies with exceptional detail and clarity. The 6-inch C-CAM Bass and Bass-Mid Drivers combine a lightweight yet rigid cone material with powerful motor systems to deliver deep, punchy, and accurate bass. A larger voice coil and improved magnet design reduce distortion and improve sensitivity for lifelike midrange performance.

Focal Diva Mezza Utopia

Focal Diva Mezza Utopia

The Focal Diva Mezza Utopia is larger and more powerful than its predecessor, the Diva Utopia. Its four 8-inch “W” cone woofers (at 20.5 cm, they are 4 cm larger than Diva Utopia) are configured in a push-push layout, generating exceptionally deep, dynamic, and controlled bass. This low-end response lays the foundation to allow the full capabilities of the “M”-shaped Beryllium tweeter and “W” cone midrange driver to shine, resulting in a wider, more articulate soundstage.

As an active loudspeaker, Diva Mezza Utopia integrates a completely re-engineered Naim Audio electronics package. Delivering 500 watts per speaker, the system features a dual-stage power supply for exceptional dynamics and precision power management across the frequency range. At the rear, the sculpted, high-efficiency heat sink ensures optimal thermal stability and long-term reliability.

Bowers & Wilkins 801 Abbey Road Limited Edition

Bowers & Wilkins 801 Abbey Road Limited Edition

Since opening its doors in 1931, Abbey Road Studios has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of popular music. In 1980, John Bowers visited Abbey Road Studios to demonstrate his new design, the 801. Designed to be the ultimate loudspeaker for hi-fi enthusiasts, the 801 was also specifically developed to be accurate enough for use in professional studios. The engineers at Abbey Road adopted it as their monitor of choice, becoming the first recording studio in the world to use the 801 full time.

The 801 Abbey Road Limited Edition is a celebration of this unique 45-year relationship. It takes the best loudspeaker Bowers & Wilkins currently makes, the flagship 801 D4 Signature, and reframes it in homage to the world’s most iconic recording studio.

The 801 Abbey Road Limited Edition boasts a Vintage Walnut cabinet inspired by the studios’ iconic interiors. Complementing this unique wooden finish is a bespoke red Leather by Connolly trim that references both the aesthetic of the control room in Studio Two, arguably the world’s most famous individual studio space, and the red leather chairs used by generations of performers throughout Abbey Road. The design also includes a unique identifying plate on its rear panel, designed to mark its status as one of just 140 pairs of loudspeakers being produced. Buyers will also receive a unique, specially commissioned book that details the history of the two brands and their collaboration, featuring never-before-published photography.
