Honeywell has released the 5816OD Outdoor Wireless Magnetic Contact, the newest member of the 5800 Series wireless products and a first-ever outdoor wireless contact.

The 5816OD meets NEMA 4X standards for water protection and has been designed for robust performance in diverse climates. It is ideal for gates, sheds, fences, barns, detached garages or any other outdoor areas in residential or commercial environments. When used with outdoor rated magnetic pull-apart contacts, it can protect equipment like lawnmowers, generators and snow blowers.
The 5816OD has a wide gap of 1.75-inch (1.25-inch on steel) to simplify installation while helping prevent false alarms. The housing is paintable, giving end-users the ability to match it to any surface. The 5816OD works with Honeywell’s Total Connect Remote Services, which notifies end-users via e-mail or text messages when activity is sensed in the protected area. Total Connect provides security dealers with the opportunity for additional recurring monthly revenue (RMR).
“The 5816OD is an affordable problem-solver for security dealers,” said Kevin Piel, senior product manager at Honeywell. “Until now, many dealers have had to walk away from protecting outdoor areas and valuable items—even when asked—due to the high costs, complexity and labor involved. The 5816 eliminates those obstacles.”
The 5816OD is compatible with all Honeywell VISTA and LYNX controls.
