Shelly Group has launched the Shelly Flood S Gen4, a battery-powered smart water leak sensor designed for residential use. The device is available for $27.99.
Unlike pin-style sensors, the Shelly Flood S Gen4 features three large stainless-steel sensors across the bottom of the device to form a unique, large-surface design that delivers fast, accurate water detection across a wider contact area. The enlarged contact surface allows the device to detect even the smallest amounts of water quickly, reducing the time between the start of a leak and the moment an alert or warning is issued. The device can identify clean or low-conductivity water, such as condensate from air conditioning systems. Its low profile allows for installation under appliances, sinks, and toilets.
Users may also choose from two different operating modes — flood detection and rain detection — to match the sensor’s behavior to the corresponding environment, and select from three different alarm profiles (intense, normal, and economic) to balance fast detection against longer operation. Battery-powered, the Flood S Gen4 delivers flexible, continuous protection against leaks for up to two years on an included CR123A battery.
The Shelly Flood S Gen4 supports Matter, Wi-Fi, and Zigbee. It provides local control and integrates with platforms including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant.
When paired with other Shelly devices or connected systems, the sensor can trigger automations. This includes cutting power to appliances like washing machines or dishwashers and communicating with smart water shut-off valves to stop water flow. The Shelly Flood S Gen4 is available now at us.shelly.com and through distribution partners.
