Following previews to select dealers, reps, and press throughout the year, Solna, Sweden-based Opalum has officially launched of its line of small and slim loudspeaker systems with wireless streaming capabilities.

Opalum’s new offerings, from top to bottom, the FLOW.1010 and FLOW.4810

Incorporating its own Actisonic technology the speakers achieve “high-end sound quality from impossible designs,” the company says. All four models are active, featuring separate Class-D amplifiers for each frequency band and digital fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley crossovers with an accuracy typically seen only in professional audio equipment.

The first two are the ultra slim on-wall FLOW models. The FLOW.4810 ($3,999 MSRP pair) uses 48 one-inch drivers in a point-source array and the FLOW.1010 ($2,499 MSRP pair) uses 10 two-inch drivers in a point-source array. The other two are the STREAM bookshelf models. The STREAM.310 ($1,499 MSRP pair) uses dual four-inch woofers and one-inch silk-dome tweeter in D’Appolito configuration, and the STREAM.210 ($1,299 pair) uses a five-inch woofer and one-inch silk-dome tweeter. The entire line is available in both black and white models.

The speakers are connected to a small Control Hub, which includes an RF remote ($199 MSRP set). Sources are connected to the Control Hub and a pure transporter forwards the uncompressed digital signal with no delay together with 24V power on a single loudspeaker cable using the company’s patented Actiline technology.

A wireless Control Hub with RF remote ($399 MSRP set) for WLAN streaming is also available. The Control Hub incorporates easy “single-button” setup functionality for connecting to the customer’s wireless router.

One of Scandinavia’s premier designers, Eva Hanner, has put her unique signature into every Opalum product. Her creations span from award-winning concept cars and private jet interiors, to designer collections launched by high-profile home-styling brands. The Opalum products are guaranteed to be timeless.

“Scandinavian design is all about simple and solid elegance,” Hanner said.

According to Opalum founder Pär Gunnars Risberg, the Opalum products, with advanced inverse filtering algorithms and psycho-acoustics, produce rich and clear sound from “impossible” designs. “Based on this and the enthusiastic reactions at both the IFA and CES shows, I believe Opalum with our Actisonic technology is the next big revolution in the audio business,” Risberg said.
