SurgeX has introduced its Axess series of products, an IP addressable, surge eliminating and power conditioning management system that allows integrators to monitor and control power distribution platforms via the Internet, 24/7.

The system can customize, synthesize, and monitor individual outlets and power settings on integrated IP-enabled devices via remote access. Custom sequences can be created across the entire network with e-mail notifications sent about various power phenomena, based on user-defined conditions.

Beyond power monitoring, Axess Elite adds device energy management by offering two-way communication that monitors and manages system energy usage. Axess Elite collects temperature, voltage measurements and current draw measurements and reports back via a user-friendly energy and power usage display.

In addition, Axess Elite gives integrators the ability to control power on an outlet level; including turning outlets on and off and controlling expansion units from the master unit. Power and energy usage is displayed per outlet providing a detailed report of the system’s energy consumption by each connected device. The Axess Elite also compiles an internal history log file for advanced monitoring of the system and user access.

With the Axess Elite, integrators can hard reboot locked up equipment via the outlet reboot command. Utilizing AutoPing, a trigger can be set to automatically fire if the Axess Elite fails to get a ping response from the device that has locked up, thus eliminating the time and costs associated with sending an integrator onsite for a simple reboot. In addition, the Axess Elite has been designed to promote facilities integration and works with most major control systems, including AMX, Crestron and others.

“The industry has seen power management systems and they’ve seen energy management systems, but now we have engineered a system that brings the two together,” said Shannon Townley, vice president of sales and marketing for SurgeX. “Axess by SurgeX provides a single solution to monitor and manage power and energy, while providing surge protection. This solves a big problem for dealers and their customers.”

For more basic IP needs, SurgeX now offers a line of Axess Ready products. The core SurgeX products, including FlatPak, Space Savers and NEMA solutions can now be controlled over IP. All Axess Ready products are network attached and feature an intuitive user interface that makes operating the outlet and changing configuration parameters as simple as a few keystrokes. These products give users the ability to remote reboot any device that is connected to the Axess Ready product as well as conserve energy by powering down equipment when not in use.

Axess and Axess Elite also feature the core technology behind the SurgeX brand: Advanced Series Mode (ASM) Surge Elimination Technology. The SurgeX patented Advanced Series Mode Surge Elimination Technology is completely non-sacrificial and eliminates surge energy without producing harmful side effects such as ground contamination or common-mode disturbances, according to the company. This proprietary technology protects AV equipment from power disturbances that can disrupt sound quality and digital performance.
