URC Adds IP Control Driver for Samsung TVs and 4K Blu-ray Player

Utilizing a Network Connection, Driver Simplifies Integration and Delivers Advanced Smart Home Control Experience

URC has completed its new Total Control 2.0 driver for IP control of select 2017 Samsung TVs and 2018 4K UHD TVs, starting with the NU8 Series and including the entire QLED series and The Frame TV. The driver will also support Samsung’s UBD-M9700 UHD Blu-ray player. The new URC driver simplifies integration of IP controllable Samsung TVs and the UHD Blu-ray player into URC control and automation systems.

“Samsung 4K UHD displays and UHD Blu-ray players lead in popularity and performance, and Total Control 2.0 offers premium, next-generation user interfaces which can be customized with images of a customer’s home, family, and interests,” said Doug Cole, URC senior vice president and general manager. “The system represents a best-in-class user experience for fully integrated smart home control. We are pleased to be partnered with a technology leader and innovator such as Samsung Consumer Electronics in bringing advanced control solutions for consumers.”

“At Samsung, we have built our leadership in the TV business by delivering the very best designs and technologies for the enjoyment of the AV experience,” added Andrew Sivori, vice president of TV Product Marketing for Samsung Electronics America. “By adding IP support for our entire 4K UHD TV line-up and new UBD-M9700 UHD Blu-ray player, we’re addressing the increasing consumer appetite for the simplicity of whole-home control. URC is a major player in the market, and with this new driver our partners can feel confident that Samsung is the right choice for their smart home projects.”
