Sales of large-format professional flat-panel displays increased 26 percent on a year-over-year in October 2015, while revenues rose 45 percent, according to PMA Research’s Distributor Flat Panel Tracking Service.

Driving those gains through distribution were sales of models larger than 70 inches models, which reached 10 percent of monthly professional volume for the first time. The report defines large format as 32-inch and larger displays.

Sharp had a pair of best-selling professional, 70-inch-plus models in October with the LC-70LE661U and the LC-80LE661U coming in first and second, respectively. Samsung followed with the DM75E coming in third. NEC rounded out this top five best-selling list with the P703 coming in fourth and the E805 coming in fifth.

Also in the professional market, volume gains for displays with ultra-narrow bezels (5.5mm or smaller) continued to outperform the overall market and helped lift the 55- to 59-inch segment into the lead as the top range by revenues.

The top five best-selling professional models with ultra-narrow bezels in October were the NEC X554UN-2 in first place, followed by the LG 47WV50BR-B in second place. Samsung’s UD55E-P came in third, and NEC’s X554UNS came in fourth. Samsung capped the top five list as the UD46D-P was the month’s fifth best-seller through distribution.
