WyreStorm, a global manufacturer that specializes in the design and development of HD distribution products, has introduced two premium HDBaseT (HDBT) extender sets designed to deliver uncompromised transmission of full HD audio and video, Ethernet, control signals over a single Cat 5e/6 cable for long run installations, up to 100 meters.
WyreStorm’s new extender models, EX-1UTP-IR-100-EDID and EX-1UTP-IR-100-POE, are ideal in any installation that requires the transfer of full HD single source content (Cable Box, Blu-ray, PC, Media Player), but conventional HDMI cables cannot be used due to length limitations or the added convenience of using Cat5e. The HDBT extenders provide installers with a more stable, easier-to-install alternative over long runs of HDMI cable, with the added benefit of two-way IR, RS-232 control and 10/100 Ethernet pass through via one single cable.
Multi-channel DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby Digital TrueHD are fully supported, and to alleviate the handshaking issues, both feature forcible EDID settings via a dipswitch, with settings that either copy EDID from the display on the receiver end or force 1080p 3D, 1080p Stereo, 1080i Stereo, or 1080p 5.1 Multi-Channel EDID. Each model also features HDMI pass through on the transmitting end, to connect of an additional display near the source.
The EX-1UTP-IR-100-POE allows for fully uncompressed transmission of 36-bit 1080p video, along with Power over Ethernet, eliminating the need for a power supply at the receiving end; only a single 12 volt power supply is required at the transmitting end. The POE extender model can be conveniently and discretely placed behind screens or next to projectors to power and optimize the video product’s performance.
The EX-1UTP-IR-100-EDID requires a 5 volt power supply at both the transmitting and receiving end, but adds support for the fully uncompressed transmission of 4K “Ultra HD” video. The EDID extender model is a necessary component for every installation team, providing an easy to integrate extender solution that delivers the ultimate 4K video display experience.

The EX-1UTP-IR-100-EDID is currently shipping from all WyreStorm approved distributors and the -POE extender model will be available in May 2013. Both products come with a three-year warranty.
