Russound has hired one the custom integration industry’s most well respected marketing professionals to drive brand development for its multi-room audio products.

The Newmarket, NH-based manufacturer has hired former Niles Audio executive and custom AV industry luminary Mike “Sparky” Detmer as vice president of sales and marketing.
According to comapny, the hiring is part of Russound’s commitment to “re-imagine how custom-installed whole-house and high-resolution audio is installed, streamed, and enjoyed in the world-wide market.”
Beginning immediately Detmer will help the company will look to improve its sales and marketing organization to better support its customers, its newly introduced streaming audio products, and to lead the company through its next growth phase.
“Detmer’s extensive experience in the custom AV installation channel will invigorate the Russound brand and better serve the market’s needs,” said CEO, Charlie Porritt. “Detmer’s technical knowledge and sales and marketing capabilities fit Russound’s business initiatives that focus on enhanced customer relationships, product development and brand building.
Following his appointment, Detmer commented, “I am delighted to accept the challenge of leading and growing a company with such a rich heritage and significant new products.”
Detmer brings with him more than three decades of consumer electronics experience. Before joining Russound, he served as president Niles Audio, vice president of Krell Industries Inc. and STAX Kogyo, as well as director of training and product management at Infinity Systems Inc. In addition to his custom installation AV industry experiences, Detmer is a columnist for Residential Systems. He is also an active member of the Consumer Electronics Association.
