Q&A with Paul Hales, president, Theory Audio Design & Pro Audio Technology.
Why CEDIA Expo 2022?
CEDIA Expo is the largest tradeshow we attend and is particularly valuable because, unlike regional shows, we can connect with a large group of qualified dealers, reps, and international distributors. It gives us the opportunity to introduce and educate our customers, media, and industry partners on the latest PRO and Theory product and system offerings. It is also a venue to discuss technology improvements and AV industry trends to inspire and aid in future product development. At CEDIA Expo, PRO is also renowned for its standout home theater demos year after year — and with Theory Audio Design added into the mix, that’s a reputation we intend to uphold as we return to the show after a three-year Covid hiatus.
What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?
The use of immersive audio formats in home theater applications, such as Dolby Atmos, is a trend that continues to grow and we expect to see expanded product offerings along with a larger category of source material to support these formats at CEDIA Expo. Another category that continues to explode is distributed audio with more and more manufacturers offering solutions that can be integrated and controlled throughout the entire home.
We look forward to hearing (as well as demonstrating) the latest and greatest in loudspeaker and amplifier technology to support these exciting trends.
What will you focus on at the show?
We haven’t exhibited since 2019, so between the two brands, we have a lot of new gear to introduce to CEDIA Expo attendees. PRO will display and demonstrate its latest loudspeaker technology, which are by far the best and most flexible models we have ever produced both in sound quality and specifications, as well as fit and finish.
But the real excitement in our booth will be around the Theory products. We are showing and demonstrating multiple new architectural speakers and loudspeaker controllers that are absolute game changers in the CI market. Theory brings large-scale professional sound to residential and commercial installations where aesthetics and installation flexibility are essential. We can confidently say there is nothing on the market that beats us from a performance perspective, especially at the price points we are offering.
