In our series of #CEDIAShares blogs, we’re talking with exhibitors about the hottest technologies and trends they’re looking to see at CEDIA 2018.
Q&A with Jimmy Paschke, Director of Residential Sales, SurgeX
Q: Why CEDIA?
Jimmy Paschke: At SurgeX, we’re here to help our customer’s businesses by ensuring they react to less power-related interruptions of their installed systems. Power problems can cause equipment lock ups or cause the end user and the installer to think a specific piece of equipment is faulty when that might not be the case. The sophistication of custom installation, paired with the sensitive nature of today’s AV gear make for strong synergy and the perfect intersection for SurgeX to help our customers determine if the project’s site has good power quality and if it does not, ensure a solid power foundation is provided and installed in order to mitigate power disturbances—big or small—that can damage products over time and effect system performance.
Q: What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?
JP: I hope to see solutions that bolster the dealers’ need to be proactive about the health of devices within their installed base. As AV and IT continue to grow closer and the need for those systems to work harmoniously expands, it will become imperative to monitor the overall wellbeing of clients. For example, closer monitoring of the home’s networks to ensure home owner personal data remains secure is an aspect of the evolving industry. As such, thinking about all aspects of the installation as it relates to varying services will continue to become an important trend.
Q: What will you focus on at the show?
JP: At CEDIA, our focus will be on the wellbeing of our customers’ businesses and helping them continue to thrive within the space. Specifically, we will be placing a lot of emphasis on proper power diagnostics and the importance of a solid power foundation. The more of our customers that we can educate on how common power disturbances can cause issues within installed systems that can be difficult to detect or present as other issues, and how SurgeX solutions can help them mitigate those issues, save them and their customers money, and even safeguard their reputation as an installer, the better. We believe a solid power foundation should be poured into every job our customers do, and we want to help them continue to succeed.
