Just Add Power Helps Jumpstart Smart Home Technology Careers With CEDIA

Will host a three-day CEDIA CIT Jumpstart Training at its Florida headquarters.

Just Add Power has partnered with CEDIA to provide CEDIA CIT Jumpstart training from November 7-9 at its newly remodeled headquarters in Seminole, Fla. The three-day CEDIA training is designed for those who are just starting out as well as seasoned pros. It will cover the essential knowledge installers need to know and that will help them prepare for the CEDIA Cabling and Infrastructure (CIT) Certification exam required for becoming a CIT technician.

Tuesday, Nov. 7, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
CIT Jumpstart Day 1: Jobsite Basics
Jobsite Basics explores industry standards and advises integrators on best practices for performing common tasks on project job sites. The course begins with an overview of the systems integration industry and explains common career paths. Technicians will discuss the professionalism necessary when working with project stakeholders and examine the documentation, tools, and materials required to complete integration projects. The session concludes with a detailed study of job site safety practices and industry standards utilized when performing infrastructure cabling installation.

Wednesday, Nov. 8, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
CIT Jumpstart Day 2: Construction Methods & Systems Overview
Construction Methods & Systems Overview is designed to cover a comprehensive scope of what technicians need to know when working in different structural environments. It provides an overview of common electronic equipment used for integration projects. Integrators will explore key aspects of masonry and wood frame construction, including key quality assurance and safety aspects of the International Building Code. Additionally, the session will cover the foundational math and electricity principles: basic algebraic and geometric concepts, Ohm’s Law, and power formula. Integrators will discuss the equipment and components commonly installed and configured when working with integrated systems. Examples include audiovisual components, rack systems, security systems, and control systems.

Thursday, Nov. 9, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
CIT Jumpstart Day 3: Infrastructure Installation, Termination & Verification
Infrastructure Installation, Termination & Verification is designed to support technicians as they learn the necessary skills to successfully install and terminate common infrastructure cabling, including twisted pair, coaxial, and fiber-optic cables. During the session, integrators will analyze common performance characteristics of the three primary types of communications cabling and discuss the recommended practices for installing wiring on a project site. Technicians will learn how to terminate communications cabling, as well as best practices and pro tips for being accurate and efficient with termination processes.
