Veteran industry journalist Bob Archer has joined marketing firm KMB Communications as an account manager. A respected voice in the custom integration channel for more than two decades, Archer joins KMB after a long tenure as an editor and content leader at EH Publishing and later Emerald, working on titles that included CE Pro, Commercial Integrator, Electronic House, TecHome Builder, Live Sound International/Pro Sound Web, and Security Sales & Integration, covering the technologies, trends, and people shaping the professional integration community.
“While Bob and I have worked together for years in an agency-to-editor capacity, our friendship goes back decades,” says Katye McGregor Bennett, founder, CEO, and brand strategist at KMB Communications. “Strategically, he knows the industry, and he understands the language of AV and how nuanced it is. He also understands the rich history of custom integration, and he already knows where existing brands are positioned within the category. He’s also got a keen journalist eye and ear for new brands coming in.”
In his new role, Archer will collaborate closely with KMB’s roster of manufacturer and integration clients to develop content strategies, thought leadership opportunities, and brand amplification programs. His familiarity with the trade press landscape, combined with extensive product and channel knowledge, will help clients craft and share stories that resonate across the industry.
Beyond client strategy and content development, Archer will play an active role in upcoming AV Trade Talk episodes, returning to the mic to share his expertise and continue conversations around the technologies, business models, and personalities driving the channel forward. He will also contribute to new KMB initiatives designed to expand the agency’s reach and deepen client engagement through multimedia storytelling and industry collaboration.
“I love Katye’s ideas in terms of podcasts and supporting the media properties out there,” says Archer: “We have talked extensively over the past few weeks and we’re aligned in that we see the same things going on in the media world, and if we can help support companies and editors, we all win because a rising tide lifts all ships.
“Joining this team feels like a natural evolution of what I’ve always loved doing — telling stories that celebrate innovation and the people behind it,” he continues. “KMB’s clients represent some of the best brands in the business, and I’m looking forward to helping them connect with audiences in meaningful, creative ways.”
Archer’s addition reinforces KMB’s ongoing commitment to combining deep industry expertise with a forward-looking approach to communications, positioning brands for greater visibility, engagement, and growth.
