Just Video Walls has appointed Michael Braithwaite as chief technology officer, bringing one of the audiovisual industry’s most accomplished inventors and technology pioneers into its executive leadership team.

Just Video Walls has appointed Michael Braithwaite as chief technology officer.

From pioneering the earliest days of audio and video distribution over IP to engineering breakthrough technologies in power management, artificial intelligence, and large-scale visual systems, Braithwaite has spent nearly four decades challenging the boundaries of what technology can accomplish.

Now, he’s bringing that same spirit of invention to Just Video Walls at a time when the company is looking to push beyond the conventional boundaries of display technology.

“Michael isn’t someone who simply understands where technology is going. He’s spent his entire career helping determine where it goes,” says Ryan Lampel, CEO and co-founder of Just Video Walls. “There are very few people in this industry with his combination of vision, engineering expertise, and a proven track record of turning seemingly impossible ideas into commercially viable technologies. We’re not bringing Michael onboard to make incremental improvements to what’s already out there. We’re bringing him in to help create what’s next.”

michael braithwaite early career

Braithwaite’s career reads like a timeline of modern AV innovation. From building his first neural network in 1987 to engineering a video wall for the U.S. Olympic Winter Games bid committee in 1993, his work has consistently pushed technological boundaries.

His pioneering achievements include co-designing the world’s first 16-channel amplifier with Morris Kessler for Crestron in 1999, developing the first IP wireless speaker in 2001, and co-founding AV-over-IP pioneer NetStreams in 2002. His inventions also span PoE switching, IP video door phones, multichannel IP-streaming Dolby decoders, and IP control for XM Satellite Radio and VUDU.

Braithwaite has also led some of the world’s largest video wall deployments across China, the UAE, and Japan. In 2024, he co-founded Modern Atomics, advancing Edge-AI-controlled power and intelligent PoE technologies. With 84 granted patents as of 2025, two Utah Genius top inventor honors, recognition on Commercial Integrator’s AV Living Legends list, and hundreds of industry awards across CES, InfoComm, ISE, and CEDIA, his legacy of invention is firmly established.

Braithwaite’s appointment marks a significant turning point for Just Video Walls as the company expands its ambitions beyond the technologies and conventions that define today’s MicroLED market.

While details of upcoming developments remain under wraps, the company is investing in a new generation of technologies with the potential to fundamentally reshape what’s possible with large-scale visual systems. Braithwaite’s appointment brings the experience and inventive leadership to help turn those ambitions into reality.
