Coopersburg, PA–Lighting control manufacturer Lutron Electronics has licensed patents in the Home Automation Radio Frequency (RF) area to Cooper Wiring Devices, Inc. Cooper is the most recent in a group of lighting control companies to take a limited license from Lutron on these patents.
To date, Vantage Controls Inc., Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc. and Cooper have licensed RF patents from Lutron, including:
U.S. Patent No. 5,982,103, entitled “Compact Radio Frequency Transmitting and Receiving Antenna and Control Device Employing Same”
U.S. Patent No. 5,905,442, entitled “Method and Apparatus for Controlling and Determining the Status of Electrical Devices from Remote Locations.”
These patents protect the technology incorporated into a variety of Lutron dimmers and switches that wirelessly communicate.
