Proficient Audio has introduced its new wireless music system called Proficient Zero, along with its GL6 loudspeakers, GS10 floor-standing subwoofer, and Music in Minutes kit.
The Proficient Zero wireless music system consists of a transmitter and amplified receiver for transmitting stereo sound up to 90 feet.
The Proficient Zero wireless music system consists of a transmitter and amplified receiver for transmitting stereo sound up to 90 feet. Built with the popular retrofit movement in mind, the Zero system can expand up to eight receivers per transmitter, which has three analog audio channel inputs and an optical audio one.
The receiver has a 35-watt by two channel digital amp built in and features stereo speaker outputs, a stereo 3.5-millimeter line out, a mono 3.5-millimeter out, and optical in, a stereo 3.5 millimeter input for local source, as well as a front LED display.
“For installing dealers, Proficient Zero is ideal for retrofit applications where homeowners would like a whole-house sound system but without the mess and expense of getting into the walls to run wire,” Marshall said. “Installing dealers can put in a four or six room wireless sound system in one day while they are doing a flat-panel TV job.”
The GL6 loudspeakers are made up of 6.5-inch woofers and a 1-inch tweeter housed in a seven-layer high-gloss piano black finish cabinet.
Injection molded graphite woofers provide a focused vertical output and wide horizontal dispersion pattern for higher output and lower distortion. As a result, the woofers work less and create less distortion. A bass-reflex designed with dual flared-end port tubes tune the enclosure and minimize air turbulence and port compression.
The tweeter is constructed of silk, so it is lightweight and holds its shape, but is still flexible for high frequencies, and good bandwidth. The dome shape provides favorable off-axis response. Second order crossover topology delivers optimum summing at the crossover frequency and protects the driver components.
“The GL6 is a superb match to all of the high-end 7.1 receivers and high-current 2-channel amps on the market today,” said Keith Marshall, president of Proficient.
The GS10 floor-standing subwoofer has a long-excursion, treated paper cone woofer with a 250-watt Class amp. The 28-hertz to 200-hertz frequency response provides high output, low distortion, and high bass detail resolution.
The woofer cone is made from a blend of paper and pulp, along with strengthening material. The voice coil is made of fiberglass and SV wire for durability and power handling. Large radius surround controls excursion demands and voice-coil alignment.
“The GS10 sub was developed in parallel with our new GL6 dual-woofer cabinet loudspeaker,” Marshall said. “If you pair a couple of GS10 with two of our GL6, it makes for a potent combination, delivering high performance and stunning aesthetics.”
Proficient has also introduced the Music in Minutes kit, aimed to help dealers demo and sell the Zero wireless system. The kit includes the Zero system, plus a pair of Proficient AW400 speakers and connecting cables all in an aluminum flight case.
The Music in Minutes kit will be available to dealers free after purchasing three ZERO systems.
