RCA Intros New DLP and LCD

Thomson has introduced a new line of RCA Scenium cable-ready, HD DLPs and LCDs, and "super-thin" Profiles.

New York–In its line show for industry press this week, Thomson demonstrated its new RCA Scenium cable-ready, high-definition DLPs and LCDs, including its wall-hanging, “super-thin” Profiles line.

In all, 11 new RCA models feature digital cable ready circuitry and built-in over-the-air tuning/decoding, making plug-and-play HDTV as simple as plugging in the power, connecting a cable TV line, and inserting a new cable security card.

The RCA and RCA Scenium stable of DLP microdisplay rear projection HDTV Sets grows to nine models including new screen sizes and the ultra-thin Profiles HDTV that makes wall-hanging widescreen entertainment possible with projection television.

The new product family covers a broad range of widescreen sizes ranging from giant-screen 61-inch models to 44-inch HDTV Sets in space-saving compact cabinets. The entire range includes rear-projection microdisplay DLP and CRT rear-projection HDTV sets and CRT rear-projection HDTV monitors.

The DLP series includes two rear-projection Profiles HDTV Sets in 61-inch and 50-inch screen sizes that will be available later this year with ultra-thin wall hanging or table top designs (only 6.85 inches in depth) that rival flat panel displays.

The five new standard Digital Cable Ready widescreen RCA Scenium DLP HDTVs feature cabinets as thin as 16 inches deep and weighing under 100 pounds.

Thomson also showcased a new series of RCA and RCA Scenium slim widescreen LCD high-definition displays. These flat-screen monitors in 30-inch, 27-inch and 26-inch screen sizes, feature three discrete inputs–DVI-HDCP, Component Video YPrPb, and RGB–all capable of accepting a high-definition signal. All three models incorporate an integrated analog NTSC tuner to display over-the-air TV and cable programs, VGA port for connection to a laptop or desktop computer, “picture-in-PC” capability that provides a second window to view video when connected to a PC, and bi-sonic stereo speakers located on each side of the screen.

The 30-inch RCA Scenium Model LCDX3022W (1280 x 768) will display standard-definition and high-definition 480p, 720p and 1080i digital TV signals at 768 progressive lines. Suggested retail price of the LCDX3022W is $3,799. It will be available in July.

The 27-inch RCA Scenium Model LCDX2722W (1280 x 720) displays standard-definition and high-definition 480p, 720p and 1080i digital TV signals at 720 progressive lines. Suggested retail price of the LCDX2722W is $2,799. It will be available in June.

The 26-inch RCA Model LCDX2620W (1280 x 768) features SRS WOW technology that enriches the audio dynamics and enhances the bass performance of audio. The HDTV Monitor includes an adaptive 4H performance comb filter (Y/C separator with adjustable vertical peaking) that separates signals and reduces the interference generated by the interlacing of analog signals, providing a clear image with more accurate contrast. It also has 500cd/m2 brightness with 600:1 contrast and a 3-device universal remote. Suggested retail price of the LCDX2620W is $2,599. It will be available in June.
