JBL Releases L100 Classic 80 Special Edition Loudspeaker

An iconic design returns in a limited 80th Anniversary edition, blending heritage retro styling with modern JBL acoustic performance.

As part of its global 80th Anniversary celebration, JBL has announced the release of the L100 Classic 80, a limited edition of its legendary L100 loudspeaker that honors eight decades of audio innovation, engineering excellence, and cultural impact.

JBL L100 Classic 80 loudspeaker

First introduced in the 1970s, the original JBL L100 became one of the most recognizable loudspeakers in JBL history, synonymous with the sound of a generation and the rise of high-performance home audio. The JBL L100 Classic 80 pays tribute to that legacy while delivering the refined acoustics, materials, and build quality expected from JBL today.

Finished in a natural oak wood veneer and paired with a vintage-inspired brown Quadrex foam grille accented by a gold-and-black JBL logo, the JBL L100 Classic 80 is as visually striking as it is acoustically capable. The design is further distinguished by a black cone 12-inch woofer, selected specifically to complement the warm oak finish and brown grille, along with a black satin wood baffle frame and anniversary edition badging on both the front and rear.

The JBL L100 Classic 80 is a 12-inch, three-way bookshelf loudspeaker engineered for dynamic stereo playback. The system features a cast-frame 12-inch pure pulp cone woofer in a front-firing bass-reflex design, a 5.25-inch polymer-coated pure pulp cone midrange driver, and a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter mated to JBL’s acoustic lens waveguide. Carefully tuned crossover points and front-panel mid- and high-frequency level attenuators allow listeners to fine-tune the speaker’s presentation to their room and personal preferences.

Production is limited to just 800 matched pairs worldwide, each identified by an individually numbered commemorative plaque bearing the signature of principal system engineer Chris Hagen. Every pair ships as a complete system, including JS-150 speaker stands, and is delivered inside a specially crafted wooden crate, underscoring the exclusivity and craftsmanship of the anniversary edition.

The JBL L100 Classic 80 offers amplifier-friendly performance with a 4-ohm impedance and dual sets of gold-plated binding posts that support bi-wire and bi-amp configurations.

The JBL L100 Classic 80 will be available in limited quantities beginning in February 2026 and retails at $7499 per pair.
