By RS Staff Published: August 29, 2016 ⋅ Updated: April 15, 2019 Middle Atlantic’s DC power distribution solutions Middle Atlantic Products will bring its robust offering of power solutions to CEDIA 2016. A CEDIA 2016 Best New Product Award Finalist, DC Power Distribution is the first centralized DC power solution for residential systems, according to the company. The unit eliminates messy, space-consuming wall warts and other power clutter with a universal power solution for DC-powered devices. The Premium Online UPS Backup Power Systems broaden Middle Atlantic’s UPS product range to address high-end systems needing the highest degree of backup power protection. “Home technology professionals need reliable, accessible, and safe power distribution options that are built to handle today’s complex residential systems,” said Scott Lowder, senior product manager of power at Middle Atlantic. “The DC Power Distribution product line is the first solution of its kind to intelligently solve the power and space demands for the increasing number of small devices needed in a system. Our new Premium Online Series UPS Backup Power Systems give homeowners peace of mind with fail-safe protection that provides the cleanest, most comprehensive, and cost-effective power protection available today. These solutions empower integrators to meet any power demands with incredible reliability that’s engineered to save labor time and costs.” With flexible mounting options for all size models, DC Power Distribution products are available as 45W DC compact and 125W DC 1RU systems, allowing the system to fit almost anywhere, including traditional rack units, small enclosures, and in-wall boxes. Designed with a color-coded screw terminal connector platform and polarity labeling for its 5V, 12V, 18V, and 24V outputs, installation is intuitive. Integrators simply trim leads to length to streamline their installations. This not only reduces the design modifications that come with trying to fit the growing number of wall warts into installations, but also saves integrators labor time and costs. DC Power Distribution ships with everything the integrator needs in the system’s hardware kit, including flexible mounting hardware, color-coded screw terminal connectors, and a six-foot IEC power cord. Other key features of the DC Power Distribution solutions include multiple voltage outputs supported in one unit to address the needs of a variety of components that could be connected to it. The solutions also offer reliable multi-level protection on both AC input and DC outputs, USB ports to conveniently power compatible products, and AC convenience outlets on the 45W model. Furthermore, LED indicator lights show activity on each output and alert users to maximum capacity on each voltage bank. The Premium Online UPS Backup Power Systems are available in three models: 1500VA, 2200VA, and 3000VA, and feature the longest runtime available in a 2RU form factor, according to the company. This form factor offers integrators a quick, one-person installation and allows them to easily add up to 10 expansion battery packs to extend runtime protection for even the most demanding environments. As front-accessible systems, integrators can easily install and maintain them, while hot-swappable batteries eliminate downtime due to maintenance. Battery life is fully monitored and reported, sending notifications in real time for optimal performance and reliability. An optional IP card gives technicians the power to remotely monitor and control the system’s health more efficiently and solve potential issues without having to send a truck out to the home. DC Power Distribution and the Premium Online UPS Backup Power Systems will be on display at CEDIA 2016 at Legrand’s booth 5132.
