Shelly Group has launched the Shelly Presence Gen4 in North America, a next-generation radar sensor built to solve one of the smart home’s oldest challenges: accurately detecting where people are located in a home. Shelly Presence Gen4 uses mmWave radar technology to reliably detect human presence and automate a wide range of helpful experiences and alerts without the need for indoor cameras. Shelly also offers a cloud-free local control option, which gives smart home users total control over their privacy and security.
Shelly Presence Gen4 uses mmWave radar to detect the micro-movements of people, pets and objects, even when stationary or sitting still. This enables precise room automation by sensing actual presence rather than relying on basic motion detection. Designed to enable room-aware automations, Shelly Presence Gen4 empowers smart home users to automate lights, shades, climate, entertainment systems, and more to respond to people based on where they are located in a room or home.
The sensor detects up to ten people simultaneously and supports up to ten independently customizable detection zones to trigger automations as people enter or leave specific areas in a room. Adjustable minimum and maximum height detection thresholds and other advanced settings allow customers to fine-tune sensor performance to filter out pets, robot vacuums, and other low-to-the-ground objects or restrict recognition to human-only movement. A real-time occupancy map shows exactly where people are detected in a space — without a camera ever capturing an image — making Presence Gen4 an ideal privacy-friendly alternative to video-based presence monitoring. A built-in ambient light sensor also reports dark, twilight, and bright conditions, enabling light-aware automations. New features and software improvements will also be released over time.

Design, Specifications, and Compatibility
Shelly Presence Gen4 is powered by USB-C for continuous operation and supports versatile installation options to suit any space. When wall-mounted, it covers a wide 140-degree horizontal field across spaces up to 650 square feet, ideally suited for larger rooms and open floor plans. When corner-mounted, it narrows to a 90-degree field covering up to 525 square feet, ideal for smaller or partitioned spaces. Tabletop and flat surface placement are also an option with a built-in stand.
Presence Gen4 offers the same multi-protocol connectivity as the rest of Shelly’s Gen4 product portfolio: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Matter, for native interoperability with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant, and other popular ecosystems. It also offers local control, robust custom scripting options, and is available in white and black finishes.
