I’ve been to more than a few CEDIA expos…. But this year will see a very interesting new addition to the show….
New this year will be the DSCE Certification course, oriented toward CEDIA professionals and AV and IT systems integrators who wish to gain immersion in the digital signage industry in the most efficient way possible.

The course, to be held on Sept. 9th, is taught by Alan and Jonathan Brawn, who don’t need a lot of introduction in the AV world… but DSEG (Digital Signage Experts Group) is relatively new, and this training regime is gaining traction very quickly…

(Note: last spring, Alan Brawn hosted a webinar on digital signage for the CEDIA market, and the 300+ plus attendees were extremely keen to get in on the fastest growing part of the AV world).

Why a DSEG event CEDIA? Isn’t that a “home theater/home technology” show? As many observed, at the InfoComm show in Orlando (the biggest “AV” show in the U.S.) in June, there were a record number of Home AV integrators attending. There has traditionally been crossover between the two markets: commercial AV, and high-end home theater (crossover of installation companies, and design companies, that work in both areas). But this crossover has now evolved to where CEDIA-type installation and design companies are seeking to enter the hot digital signage market. This is why the DSEG event in Atlanta, co-located with the CEDIA show, is going to be a must-attend experience.
