Along with VAC co-founders Joseph and Mayer Akhtarazad and VAC corporate director Tom Campbell, Samsung senior director of sales George Madrigal, and sales director Dan Freeman, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment executive director of global partnerships Brian Gartland, former Beverly Hills mayor Jimmy Delshad, joined in the celebration.

Gartland’s presence, in conjunction with last Tuesday’s release of the movie Assassin’s Creed, which is based on the popular video game, underscored the importance of high-quality software to support 4K/UHD display sales. That aligns with Campbell’s belief that for advanced technology to succeed, content and hardware suppliers must work together to create “discovery, desire, and demand.”

In support of that, Campbell is very bullish that UltraHD Blu-ray is the only way that consumers can get true, high-quality 4K with HDR and object-based audio such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. As proof of that, Campbell noted that VAC’s four stores consistently show an attach rate of more than 60 percent for Ultra HD Blu-ray players with 4K/UHD set sales. In fact, he said, VAC has just placed an order for another 2,000 of the new Samsung players, having virtually sold through its existing stock.

As a final “proof is in the pudding” for the value of public events, VAC sold and delivered 23 of the new Samsung QLED sets as of mid-afternoon last Tuesday.
